Wir haben uns in Singapur sofort wohl gefühlt und die Woche ging wie im Flug vorbei. Wir haben hier eine sehr schöne und fotogene Stadt entdeckt. Dazu tragen natürlich auch architektonisch tolle Gebäude ihren Teil bei.
Die Wurzeln sind durch verschiedene Kulturen geprägt und man merkt auch noch den europäischen Einfluss. Was uns besonders gefiel ist das gute Essen (da spielt natürlich auch der Mix der Kulturen eine grosse Rolle) und wie viel hier nachhaltig in die Zukunft investiert wird. So gibt es viele grosse Parks und die ganze Stadt ist im generellen sehr grün. Dies kommt vor allem daher, dass jedes neu gebaute Haus einen Anteil an Grünfläche für die Öffentlichkeit zur Verfügung stellen muss.
Was wir uns noch gegönnt haben ist der Drink mit Aussicht. Das musste natürlich ein ‚Singapur Sling‘ sein. Vielen herzlichen Dank an die Spender in Zürich.

We felt comfortable here in Singapore from the beginning on and the week here passed really quickly. We have found a picturesque city and the beautiful and nice looking building contribute their part to it.
The roots are influenced by different cultures and also you still feel the European influence. What we particularly liked is the good food and how much sustainable investment is done for the future. So there are many large parks and the whole town is in general very green. This comes mainly from the fact that every newly constructed home must provide a proportion of green space for the public.
During our stay we enjoyed a drink in one of the roof top bars with a nice drink. We had of course a ‘Singapore Sling’. Many thanks to the donors in Zurich.
And we close with some special impressions.
In Singapur lebt ein Mix aus ganz verschiedenen Kulturen zusammen. Somit gibt es hier wie in jeder grösseren Stadt ein China Town aber auch ein Little India.
In China Town haben wir ein paar Schreine und Tempel besichtigt. Hier ein paar Impressionen:
Früher waren in Singapur Strassen viele Strassenverkäufer anzutreffen die ihre verschiedenen Köstlichkeiten anboten. Heute findet man sie in den sogenannten Hawkercentern, dies war eine Massnahme der Regierung um das Bild der Stadt zu verschönern. Diese Center sind Ansammlungen von vielen Ständen die tolle Leckereien feilbieten und es gibt auch Tische wo man diese dann genüsslich verspeisen kann.
Ein paar U-Bahnstationen weiter tauchten wir in Little India ein. Ein Szenenwechsel in einen eher schmuddeligen Stadtteil, wo in Singapur doch sonst alles so blitz blank sauber ist. Hier reihen sich Gewürzhändler, an Autoersatzteillager und Occasionsmarkt für Waschmaschinen aneinander. Ein buntes Sammelsurium an Verkaufsläden und Leuten.
In Singapore, a mix of very different cultures is living together. Thus, there is here, as in every major city a Chinatown but also a Little India.
In Chinatown we visited a few shrines and temples. Ages ago you could find many hawkers selling food and drinks in the roads of the city. Today they are found in the so-called hawker centers, this was a measure of the government in order to beautify the city's image. These centers are collections of many stalls where the former hawkers sell their products and usually a few tables, where you can eat.
A few subway stops away we plunged in Little India. A quite rough scene change as where the city is otherwise sparkling clean. Here you find spice traders, car spare parts warehouses and second-hand market for washing machines side by side. A colorful smorgasbord of retail stores and its people.
Der Zoo von Singapur gilt al seiner der besten der Welt. Die Gehege sind sehr offen gestaltet und durch sehr gut versteckte Barrieren von einander getrennt. Manchmal sind das einfach nur Wassergräben und somit geht mit der sehr dichten Bepflanzung eins ins andere über. Die Tiere haben aber dank sehr natürlichen Gehegen auch viele Rückzugsbereiche.
Und natürlich waren wir auch im Zoo um ganz viele Bilder für unsere junge Fangemeinde zu knipsen (Gruss nach Wettswil). So stürzen wir uns also ins Getümmel. Es hatte wegen dem 1.Mai (Feiertag) wohl etwas mehr Leute aber es war immer noch sehr angenehm.
Gestartet haben wir mit den Ottern, den Flamingos und Störchen. Komisch, die Flamingos sind doch auch im Zürcher Zoo gleich am Eingang.
Dann ging es in die Kälten der Tundra, mit dem Eisbären der wohl etwas warm hatte. Und anschliessend nahtlos weiter Richtung Afrika, mit Rhinozeros, dem Gepard, dem Zebra, der Giraffe und dem Löwen.
Natürlich waren auch die Affen vertreten, es gab Schipansen und Mandrillen.
Die Schlangen waren auch in diversen Arten anwesend. Zwei schöne Exemplare waren die nachfolgende Klapperschlange und die Boa.
Die Riesenschildkröten wurden gerade gefüttert und machten sich gemeinsam über einen riesigen Salat her. Mmh, fein.
Dann ging es weiter zu den Dickhäutern, den Asiatischen Elefanten, und den Hippos und zu guter letzt dem weissen Tiger. Das Hippo konnten wir sogar beim Tauchen beobachten.
The Singapore Zoo is considered to be one the best zoos in the world. The enclosures are very open and only separated by very well-hidden barriers from each other. Sometimes these are just small ponds. But the animals have, thanks to the very natural enclosures also many areas of retreat.
And of course we were at the zoo to take quite a lot of pictures for our young fans (Greetings to Wettswil).
We started with the otters, flamingos and storks. Funny, but the flamingos are also in the Zurich zoo right at the entrance. Then we went into the colds of the tundra seeing the polar bear which had probably a bit warm. And then seamlessly we continued towards Africa, with the rhinoceros, the cheetah, zebra, giraffe and lion. Of course, the monkeys were represented, there was chimp and mandrills. The snakes were also present in various species. Two fine examples were the rattlesnake and the boa. The giant tortoises were just fed and set out together on a huge salad ago. Then it was on to the pachyderms , the Asian elephants , and the hippos and last but not least the white tiger. The Hippo we could even watch while diving.
Für den heutigen Tag haben wir die Orchard Street angepeilt. Wie in jeder Grossstadt gibt es natürlich auch in Singapur eine Einkaufsstrasse. An sich eigentlich nichts weltbewegendes, wie erwartet riesige Einkaufshäuser mit allem was Rang und Namen hat. In einer kleinen Seitenstrasse gab es noch ein hübsches Kontrastprogramm. An der Emerald Hill Road werden die ursprünglichen, vor 100 Jahren erbauten Häuser behütet.
Am Abend haben wir uns dann den lokalen kulinarischen Genüssen gewidmet. In einem Seafood Restaurant haben wir uns ein Menü bestellt. Alles war hervorragend, es gab viele lokale Spezialitäten wie zum Beispiel Singapore Chilli Crab und Hummer – ein richtiges Schlachtfest, wenn man den Tisch danach begutachtete. Das Essen mussten wir uns auf jeden Fall hart erkämpfen. Spannend war auch, dass wir natürlich nicht bei allem wussten was es denn genau ist. So nahmen wir an grosse Champignons in Sauce zu essen, die Übersetzung im Nachhinein hat dann aber gezeigt, dass es Seeschnecken waren. Und ich bleibe dabei – die Dinger haben wie Champignons geschmeckt.
Today we headed to the Orchard Street. As in any other big city, there is also in Singapore a shopping street. In itself nothing especially exiting, as we expected huge department stores with all the top brands. In a small side street, we found a pretty contrast program. At the Emerald Hill Road, the original, 100 years ago built, houses can be seen.
At night we devoted ourselves to the local culinary delights. In a seafood restaurant we ordered a menu. Everything was excellent; there were some local specialties like Singapore Chilli Crabs and lobsters - a real hard battle if you had a look at the table afterwards. We had to fight hard against the crabs. It was also exciting that we did not know everything we had ordered. So we thought that we were eating to large mushrooms in sauce, the translation (which we did afterwards) then showed that it were sea snails. And I stick to it - these things have tasted like mushrooms.
Nach tiefem und erholsamem Schlaf sind wir morgens in unserem kuscheligen Bett aufgewacht. Wow, danke allen die ihren Teil dazu beigetragen haben. Den ersten “richtigen” Tag in Singapur haben wir mit einem bombastischen Frühstück gestartet. Wir haben noch nie so ein grosses und reichhaltiges Buffet gesehen.
Am Ufer wurde eine grosse Landfläche aufgeschüttet und darauf die ‚Gardens by the Bay‘ errichtet. Das Grossprojekt im neuen Stadtteil Marina Bay soll die grüne Lunge der asiatischen Metropole werden, eine echte Investition in die Zukunft wie wir finden. In zwei riesigen Gewächshäusern gab es diverse Pflanzen zu sehen. Zum einen verschiedene Kakteen und Sukkulenten, aber auch exotische Europäische Pflanzen wie Geranien und Hibiskus. Wie doch die Perspektiven verschieden sind 
.
In einem weiteren Bereich gab es einen grossen Wasserfall und unzählige Orchideen zu bestaunen. Da gibt man sich zu Hause immer so mühe, die Pflänzchen zu hegen und zu pflegen und hier wachsen sie wie Unkraut.
Eine weitere Attraktion des Parks sind die sogenannten Super Trees. Die 25 bis 50 Meter hohen Konstruktionen aus Stahl und Beton sind Mammutbäumen nachempfunden. Hier wächst der Garten in die Höhe und in der Nacht sind sie beleuchtet. Ein bisschen wie im Film Avatar.
Den Tag haben wir mit einem Spaziergang abgeschlossen und die Sicht auf die Skyline von Singapur und die beleuchteten Super Trees genossen.
After a deep and restful sleep we woke up in the morning in our cozy bed. Wow , thanks to all who have contributed their part. The first "real" day in Singapore, we have started with a bombastic breakfast. We have never seen such a big and generous buffet.
On the coast a large land area was filled and they have built the ‘Gardens by the Bay’. The project in the new district of Marina Bay will be the green lung of Singapore in the future. In two huge greenhouses a lot of various plants can be seen. At first, various cacti and succulents, but also exotic European plants like geraniums and hibiscus were presented. How the perspectives are different . In the second greenhouse we could admire a large waterfall and numerous orchids.
Another attraction of the park are the so-called Super Trees. The 25 to 50 meter high constructions of steel and concrete are modeled sequoias. Here, the garden grows in height and at night they are lit. A bit like in the movie Avatar.
We closed the day with a walk and enjoyed the view of the Singapore skyline and the illuminated Super Trees.
Unsere Flitterwochen haben mit dem ersten Flug gestartet, es ging von Zürich mit dem A380 nach Singapur. Singapore Airlines hat uns total überzeugt, die Sitze waren fast zu breit, hehe. An dieser Stelle möchten wir den Sponsoren für den tollen Flug recht herzlich danken.
In Singapur sind wir in aller früh angekommen und es regnete als gäbe es kein Morgen mehr. Nach einem kurzen Nickerchen (man startet in den Flitterwochen ja nicht so früh in den Tag) haben wir uns aufgemacht die Gegend zu erkunden. Wir haben uns rund um die Marina Bay und im Kolonialviertel umgesehen und erste Eindrücke gesammelt.
Our honeymoon started with the first flight, it went with the A380 from Zurich to Singapore. Singapore Airlines has us totally convinced, the seats were almost too wide, hehe. At this point we would like to thank the sponsors for the great flight.
We have arrived early in the morning at Singapore and it was raining like there's no tomorrow. After a short nap we started to explore the area around the hotel. We had a look around the Marina Bay and in the colonial district and collected some first impressions.
